ribes hirtellum Captivator 01-12-2013Today’s special is our ‘Captivator’ Gooseberry. These are available in rooted stock format. This is a pre-order for spring shipping. The price per 25 plants is $117.50.  These will be ready to ship in March/April.

Gooseberries make delicious pies and jellies. The Captivator Gooseberry are almost thorn free, mildew resistant, sweet purple fruit.

These will grow in a range from 5 to 8 pH. Prefers well drained soil, as it makes most of its early growth in early spring. Plant them in early spring (April – May). Place the plant in hole large enough to accommodate all of the roots. Plant so the top roots are at least 2″ to 3″ below ground line. Pack soil firmly around plant and water the new plants immediately. Space 2 feet apart. Plant your Gooseberry plants on the outer edge of your vegetable garden as it will produce fruit year after year and requires no pruning. A 4 to 5 year old plant will reach a maximum height of 4 feet.
