About: SARCOCOCCA hookeriana var. humilis: This wonderful Himalayan member of the boxwood family makes a superb, texturally interesting evergreen ground cover for the woodland garden. The 18″ long upright stalks are adorned with narrow glossy green leaves. The stems spread slowly via underground stolons, forming a 4′ wide patch in 10 years. In late winter/early spring, the deer-resistant plants are laden with small but very fragrant white flowers. While Sarcococca hookeriana var. humilis loves rich organic soils, ours have thrived in less than stellar soils in deep shade. Zones 6 to 9.
