Culture: Easily grown in average, medium, well-drained soils in full sun to part shade. Best flower production in full sun. Prune immediately after spring flowering. Wide range of pruning options include simply removing old stems and shaping to cutting back to the ground to revitalize. Forsythias are generally noted for having good tolerance for urban conditions.
Noteworthy Characteristics: GOLDILOCKS or GOLD CURL is a new forsythia cultivar that is noted for its compact shape with short internodes, abundant early spring flowering, dark green foliage that begins to emerge during flowering, good winter hardiness and suitability for containers. It is a small, upright, deciduous shrub that typically grows to only 2-3′ tall with a slightly larger spread. Golden flowers clustered around the stems bloom in profusion in late winter to early spring. Ovate leaves are dark green in summer. Zones 5 to 8.
